Oh the 9 to 5 dilemma which i love talking about, it has been the subject of my talks since i got myself into this immense world of personal growth, what is interesting is that whenever i talk about it it's always with the same energy and eager like day one.

now you are here reading this because you're probably looking for answers and guidelines and maybe to comfort yourself in your decision about quitting your 9 to 5 job too, well you you end up in the right place.

Whether you have a business idea, already a business owner or a creative who wants to make a living out of their skills and you think a 9 to 5 is restricting your creativity, your opportunities and basically your chances of doing what you love, well i'll comfort you and say it is true, you're completely right.

But a regular Job isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when it's in a field of your expertise, when it's a good place for you to learn some new skills and gain discipline about work flow and accountability in doing the tasks you have to do.

Though when the time comes we need to break free from the restrictions of a full time job, generally related to place of work, time, restrictions in terms of growth.

So here are some of the reasons why it is important for you to quit your full time job and start dedicating your time to your business or passion;

  • If you work in a job that's within your expertise for a while and you've been planning to start a solo entrepreneurial journey in that field, and with your job you've acquired enough knowledge on how to run things in that field, than quitting your job is probably good so you can start putting in the experience and the ideas you have into work, so in this scenario a would advise you to quit your full time job if;

  1. you've already mapped out a road map of how you'll start running things once you quit your full job

  2. you have already started working on your business as a side hustle alongside your day job and have acquired some traction and income, so working in daily on another job besides yours is restricting you from growing.

  • You have an unconditional passion for something and all you want to do everyday is within your passion, and you feel that your job is just restricting you on daily basis and all you have left is your after work time which you could consider is not enough, in this case i would advise you to quit your job only if you've prepared for it, it means;

  1. either you've saved money,

  2. you've got some offers to get paid doing what you do

  3. you're going to work in an another full time job that is in the same field of what you're passionate about.

  • you're not an office person, you hate strict working hours, getting told what to do, having to dress up everyday even when it's the last thing you want to do in the world at that moment, you basically hate routine and restrictions, you want to be free, do everything and be everywhere, you want a work that doesn't feel like work, you want holidays around the year, spend more time with you're loved ones, but you just don't know what is your passion or what it is that you want to do, well there're a lot of your kind, and i'm actually one of them, so quitting your full time becomes one of your main goals, and the only way i can advise to do that is by;

  1. identifying what you really want to do, what is your passion and how you're going to make money after quitting your job.

  2. learn new skills, start with the ones you love most and see which one you really enjoy learning and working on, once you become good at it, look for work opportunities you can make an income from, then you can start the process of quitting your job.

With that being said, the entrepreneurial journey isn't an easy one, one should give it a serious thought and it is harder if we don't have the discipline and the skills needed to manage a business, that's why a full time job or corporate job has it's benefits too, as i've stated above, it teaches how to be disciplined, how to get work done, and how to manage your time, and all of these are needed no matter what kind of business you run.

Hope you enjoyed the read.

Thank you.
